turbulence velocity
turbulence velocity
(OP)
Hi all.
How can I determine the maximum velocity (the fluctuating turbulent part) in a flow that I estimate to have a turbulence intensity of 50% ?
I cannot see by looking at the definition of the intensity how I with the intensity and a mean velocity can calculate the fluctuating velocities.
Any help is appreciated and please let me know if you need the problem elaborated.
Cheers.

RE: turbulence velocity
You will find some terms have greater influence on the overall change in Reynolds Number relative to others. This is due to the mathematical nature of the equation itself. In this fashion you will find a means to determine which factors contribute to turbulence intensity.
Hope this helps you out. Good luck!

RE: turbulence velocity
I was wondering how to estimate the turbulent velocities from a given intensity. The turbulent velocity in the formula calculating the intensity is a mean square. Is there any way of breaking this mean value to its (estimated) pieces?
Maybe a poisson distribution?
