Moveable electric motor

Moveable electric motor

Moveable electric motor

(OP)
We have electric motor (high power dynamometer)with axial
translation, and we plan to install a flexible cable carrier
(CATRAC type). We can not determine per NEC whether this
carrier should be treated as a cable tray and, accordingly,
we must use only tray rated cables for motor feeder. If anybody ran through similar problem, please advise.

RE: Moveable electric motor

I wouldn't expect your flexible system to be covered in the NEC as a cable tray since the definition is(392.2): "A unit or assembly of units or sections and associated fittings forming a structural system used to securely fasten or support cables and raceways."
Why must you use only cabletray rated cables?
