does anyone know what the fastest growing seaweed is and possibly where i could get a sample for a new project im doing

RE: fast growing seaweed

Before I divulge the name of a fast growing seaweed I'd like to know what you need it for and where you're going to use it.

I am currently working on a synthetic intertidal pools project.

Could be we have related ideas/issues and may be able to discuss them.

I'm working on a high protein food product that can feed millions if cultivated correctly. thats why i need a souce of fast growing seaweed since seaweed is mostly protein and 99% digestable.

Thanks

RE: fast growing seaweed

What is your source of information for the statement that "seaweed is mostly protein."  I am pretty sure that for most plants, this is incorrect.

RE: fast growing seaweed

Obsidian29203,

Kudzu is the fastest growing weed ("sea" or not) out there, http://www.cptr.ua.edu/kudzu/ - and it grows in anything it seems.

Biolante is a fast-growing seaweed, big, too, but hard to control.

Frankly, if you want to develop a food from the sea to "feed millions" I'd go with salps. That or figure out how sea turtles do so well on jellyfish.

Of course, if you're looking to cultivate Soylent Green, look no further than your own kind...
