Dwg looking for a part

Dwg looking for a part

I have an assy dwg that is very slow to open and save. Whenever I open it, it can not find one of the parts in the assy and asks me if I want to find it. I find it then save it. This happens everytime I open the dwg, but never happens when opening the assy. Any suggestions?
thank you

RE: Dwg looking for a part

After you save, open the drawing in SW Explorer and check the references.

One longshot:
Do a "Save As" to make a copy of your drawing to a different name or directory, then "Save As" back to the original.  Maybe this will "jiggle the handle" and get the references in the file to update properly.

All this machinery making modern music can still be open-hearted.

RE: Dwg looking for a part

Perhaps the configuration used in the drawing has this part suppressed, and the configuration you save the model does not. Has happened to me once or twice. Hope it helps.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I tried them and still have the problem. I want to delete the part the dwg is looking for. The assy does not use it, I do not know why the dwg is looking for it. Any suggestion on how to delete it?
thanks

RE: Dwg looking for a part

Maybe do the "Save As" trick to the assembly with the drawing open?

-OR-

replace the assembly reference with the same assembly in SW Explorer.
