Require connection diagram for twin capacitor single phase 240 volt 370watt 1380rpm Asea IEC34 IP54 Electric motor

RE: Connection diagrams for 1phase 240volt capacitor start electric motors

How many and what COLOR wires wiht loose ends do you see on the motor?

RE: Connection diagrams for 1phase 240volt capacitor start electric motors

Let me but in here. I was not the one who raised the Q.
There are 3 wires on my motor, red, white and blue. The red and blue are connected to a 4 terminal capacitor. The other 2 terminals on the capacitor go to a control board. I am trying to salvage a motor from a garage door opener.

Bluespud...
What do you plan to do with that motor, since it has a very SHORT duty cycle!

White is common, red & blue are forward & reverse.

RE: Connection diagrams for 1phase 240volt capacitor start electric motors

Thanks for comming back.
I plan to use the motor on a small lathe and it will run for short periods of time at heavy loads (which still should not tax a 1/2 horse motor) and longer periods say 15 minutes with little or no load.
Will this be a problem?

RE: Connection diagrams for 1phase 240volt capacitor start electric motors

Suggestion to the previous posting. It might. Check with the motor manufacturer tech support.

The load is not the problem for that motor. It's the time and lack of cooling!

Typically, that motor has no fan on it to cool it so you will need to force air over it constantly!

Also, it is probably a permanent split capacitor motor with a capacitor that WILL explode if you run it for 15 minutes!

I think you would do best to purchase a standard Continuous Duty Capacitor Start motor for your application, since the motor you have was never designed to do the job you describe!

Thanks to everyone for comming back. Most helpful. It looks as though I could save $30 and spend a week cleaning up the mess.
Will heed the advice and get an appropriate motor.
thanks again.
