model space and layout s

model space and layout s

(OP)
Hey everyone,

Just a simple question that i cant figure out!  When you create something in model space on the model tab, how do i get whatever is in the model tab to NOT show up on the layouts i create on the same drawing.  I want to use view ports to show sections of the model drawings but i cant seem how to figure out how to hide the entire model drawing so it doesnt overlap on the other layout tabs.

Thanks!

RE: model space and layout s

use vplayer to freeze layers ??

RE: model space and layout s

hi
You should read in help of autocad command mview
I will show you one way I usually
1.You should create a new viewport with new layer( only use for define viewport) , remove the old in layout
2. use mspace command , you are in haft model and paper space .
3. use zoom command / scale type the scale you want
or you use vport toolbar choose the scale you want or custom.
4. Use pan adjust location . And adjust size of frame . If you don't want to show border viewport , just turn it off.

Hope it help you

RE: model space and layout s

When you create the viewports each layer has the option to be seen in that viewport or not.  If you create the 2D from the solid using solprof, Autocad automatically puts the 2D generated in that format so the geometry doesnt show up on different viewports.  To see what I am talking about, you can create a simple solid and go to paperspace.  Create your viewports using mvsetup, and then quickly use solprof.  Then pop open the layer manger, you'll see the layers and the arragment I am referring too.

If you want to show a section of your model, first draw a rectangle on the plane you want to section.  Create a layer named "section" and make it the current layer. Then enter "section" at the command line, choose the object you want to section, then at the prompt:"Specify first point on Section plane by [Object/Zaxis/View/XY/YZ/ZX/3points]", enter O for object and pick the rectangle.

RE: model space and layout s

Go to the layout and delete the current viewport whic is showing the object in modelspace.

Create new viewports in the layout and notice that it again repeats the objects in the modelspace- not a problem.

Select any of the viewports u just created in the layout by double-clicking inside the viewport. this gives u the opportunity to set the object to whatever scale or view u want.

Repeat this for the other views u need.

Hope this helps.
