High Temp Elastomers
High Temp Elastomers
(OP)
Does anyone know of a high temp elastomer that will be able to remain ductile and continue to function well in damping while occasionally being exposed to 700°F via metal to elastomer contact? I'm initially looking for something that had approximately a Shore 85 durometer, decent compression set characteristics, has a tensile greater than 10 ksi. Any help of pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps I need to look at a temp insulator, but that would be a last resort. :(

RE: High Temp Elastomers
Thanks for the message. I'm getting closer. Yes, I've run across the fluorocarbon and the Perfluoroelastomer compounds. Looks like from my Materials Engineering Material Selector, their Max temp continuous use figures are ">550°F" and "600°F", respectively.
Good recommendation. Perhaps a few vendors have more specialized formulations that would be higher temp yet??
Thanks!
