Low weight totally-enclosed motor
Low weight totally-enclosed motor
(OP)
I believe I have tried all the common sources for motors, and I've found that the 1/3 hp and 1/2 hp face mounted motors are typically 18 lbs or more. For the application that I am currently working on I need a motor that is about half that weight. Is there an unusual source of fractional horsepower motors that I could adapt to my application? I can use 56C face or 48N or I might be able to design an adapter for something else. Thanks for the tip.

RE: Low weight totally-enclosed motor
If that does not meet your criteria. You may want to check website for the "Assembly Engineering" or "Appliance Controls".I recall having seen an article about excetionally small and very high torque motors, couple of years ago. It might suit your applilication. Industrial controls or Industrial automation or mars motors etc. may be other sources. If you have already checked out motor manufacturers like crompton, GE, Sanyo, sumitomo, bodine, united electric motors, etc.

Doesn't sound like this is what you are looking for though.
Maybe you should send more info.
Good luck,
