Down time or availability figures

Down time or availability figures

Down time or availability figures

(OP)
Does anyone know of a book, paper or other resource which lists typical values for availability (or downtime) for different types of mechanical equipment. Apparently one exists but know one knows what its called. So it might have a list of mechanical equipment and its typical availability, say something like:

Screw feeder: 0.997
Surge bin: 0.999
Pallet unpacker: 0.973
Pump with 2 backup pumps: 1.0
and so on...

Has anyone seen anything like this? It would obviously only have general rough estimate numbers but its still quite important.
thanks
Aidan

RE: Down time or availability figures

Hi Aidan,
For starters you might want to check out:

Navy Handbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment, NSWC-98/LE1.

Also there are web sites with pointers to reliability computation software.
