DIGLYCOL AMINE SYSTEM
DIGLYCOL AMINE SYSTEM
(OP)
Can I have any information on running an amine system using DGA and the problems associated with using this and remedies to these situations. Are there any sites with useful information.

RE: DIGLYCOL AMINE SYSTEM
The benefits of DGA are that you can run higher concentrations (up to 60% in some cases) vs. 15 -20% for MEA and ~35% for DEA. As a result of these higher concentrations, required circulation rates are lower. DGA can also be used at very low contact pressures.
Problems with DGA are the same as any other primary or secondary amine, which are cheifly degradation products in the presence of COS, CS2, etc. These degradation products can be removed through conventional reclamation techniques. To avoid this type of degradaiton, you typically have to go with MDEA, a tertiary amine.
DGA is manufactured by, and is a registered trademark of the Huntsman Corporation, so I suggest you check out their website at www.huntsmangastreating.com
I work for the distributor for Huntsman amines and glycols in Canada and the Rocky Mountain States, so you can e-mail me and I can try to answer any specific questions you have on DGA operations specifically.
