Feature Palette

What I'm trying to do is add a rib using a .250 dia die, about 5 in long in .060 material (Sht Mtl) the rib is only .06 "proud" of the surface.  I made a tool in the feature palette and it tells me that the "radius of curvature must be larger than the material thickness".  That is strange why would they not want you to be able to put ribs is that are equal or less than the material thickness. I'm puzzeled

RE: Feature Palette

I don't know what your root feature looks like, but maybe this will help.

This type of message is usually associated with offsetting or thickening a surface.  The case would be when a surface is thickened to a point that it self-intersects.  An example would be a curved surface with internal radius 2.0mm was thickened 2.1 mm toward the concave side.

All this machinery making modern music can still be open-hearted.

I have a flat surface .060 thick  that I am putting a rib that is to be .06 "proud" of that surface. This is a guide that another assy "rides against" for smooth operation. I used a .250 dia tool because that is what my SM house has for tooling.
