Shopfloor Series
Shopfloor Series
(OP)
Im trying to get everyone(including myself) in my organization on the "same page" with our lean transformation efforts. I've read Lean Thinking and I'm now trying to find literature that's more specific to the various lean mfg. concepts/techniques (eg. kanbans, standard work, pull production, TPM, 5S, error proofing, quick change overs, et al).
I found the Shop floor series on Amazon. This series has a book for each of the above subjects. I was wondering if any of you would like to offer your critique on this series or recommend other books in the same vein. At the moment I'm concentrating on Standard Work and Kanbans. Any advice on kanban "how to" literature would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

RE: Shopfloor Series
There are many methods for shop floor planning and control. You mentioned the ; Lean , Kanaban but one might add agile, JIT Flexible manufacturing , tOC etc.
You will find a summary of over 100 methods in a book:
HANDBOOK OF PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT METHODS published by Butterwirth Heinemann.
Each method is described in 2 to 4 pages and includes many references.
Also you find a method to select the appropriate method, depends on your needs and problems to solve. Such as:
Meeting delivery dates
Reduce production cost
Reduce lead time
etc.
