measurement of triax samples

(OP)
ASTM recommends a "circumferential measuring tape" to determine the actual diameter of a triax specimen.  Has anyone used this or know exactly what it is?  Or where to get one?

RE: measurement of triax samples

Yep - I use one.  It's also called a Pi tape - materials labs use them to measure concrete cylinders.  They're a hell of a lot better than using calipers, even the digital ones -

Try Humboldt, SoilTest, Durham Geo.  Or your local equipment rep.
