Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

(OP)
Does any one have come across any problems displaying symbolic threads in drafting (NX1 or NX2)?

RE: Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

What sort of problems? I just created one in NX1 with no problems.

RE: Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

I cannot speak about NX version but in v18 we have experienced problems with threads in drafting, particularly when working with entrance chamfers to threaded bores. The end view does not always show either a thread or the chamfer, sections do not always show the thread.
we have never found the reasons for this, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
we end up adding curves in expanded mode

any thoughts

regards.......... gary

RE: Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

I just wanted to add that i use NX, and i have the same experience as GPowers2, it has been the same as long as i've used UG (since v15.) And i have the same solution, expand mode and some curves.
There are other strange things in drafting as well, but i've almost given up. Modelling is great though!

Christer

Ben:

Symbolic threads do not show properly in drafting when you have the reference grid on.  EDS have been informed and the IR 4837569 has been converted to the PR 4837569.  I pasted below EDS reply.  Thank you all for your replies.

“IR Description: symbolic threads not displaying correctly in drafting

Dear Rich,

Your recent call to the Global Technical Access Center, Incident Report (IR) Number 4837569 opened on 08-SEP-2003, has been researched by our TAC software engineers.  It has been determined that this IR requires resolution by our UNIGRAPHICS_NX development team. This IR was converted into a problem
report (PR) on 08-SEP-2003 and is now referenced as PR Number 4837569, with a priority code of 1 Critical.

Due to the serious nature of this software discrepancy, we have selected this fix for inclusion in a quick response interim release.  You will be
notified as to the disposition of this PR when a resolution has been determined. At that time, your customer ID will be automatically added to the quick response release distribution list.

Sincerely,

The Global Technical Access Center Team”

RE: Symbolic Threads in NX1 or NX2

If the X-section does not run exactly in the center of the threaded body, the thread will not display either. The chamfer is a seperate feature, not created as part of a thread feature, and should show as any other feature...
