3500psi steam

3500psi steam

(OP)
I am searching for a system that is injecting steam at 3500psi and 800F. The object is to have the steam the same volume as water. Anyone know of anyone using these parameters?

RE: 3500psi steam

Thise are approximately the same process conditions available at the outlet of the primary superheater on a supercritcal steam generator at full load.

RE: 3500psi steam

it is not clear what you mean by having the steam density the same as (liq.) water.

3500#/800 oF steam has a spec vol. of ~ 0.135 ft^3/lbm

I am looking for information on supercritical steam generators and if there are any small systems in operation.

RE: 3500psi steam

small supercritical steam generators are used at a few sites as part of the "supercritical oxidation" of chemical wastes, and for some other unique chemical operations that take advantage of the unusual  properties near the psuedocritical point.  Try a review of the articles in the magazine " Chemcial Engineering" over the last 15 yrs.

Generally the these small units are heated using an electical heater. I understand it is difficult to get a centrifugal pump in this size range for that high a developed head, so the use of positive displacement pumps with snubber  bladders ( to reduce pressure pulsations) is resorted to.

RE: 3500psi steam

Small supercritical steam generators are also used in the relief valve industry, both in manufacturing facilities, and repair shops to supply the steam necessary to pressure test safety valves that will be used on superheated steam boilers, and vessels.  Having said that, I must state that I am sorrry I don't know where the "getting place" is for those, but hope I have given you a direction to head into.

RE: 3500psi steam

And then, as if by magic, I was walking through a plant while visiting it yesterday, and they showed me  their "steam generator" on their test floor, sitting right next to their steam boiler which is used for lower pressures, and the name on it that I could not remember for you before was Clayton Industries, but alas, I was unable to get close enough to it to see where they were from, but with google, why bother. good luck.
