how are volatiles transferred from trailer to storage?

how are volatiles transferred from trailer to storage?

(OP)
We have a 5000 US gal tank for storage of aqua ammonia. The tanker truck brings AA and fills the storage tank in 30 minutes, using an air compressor.

We considering to use a tranfer pump instead of air compressor for transferring AA.

I would to know whether transfer pumps or air compressors are used for transfering anhydrous ammonia for fertilizing purposes?

RE: how are volatiles transferred from trailer to storage?

The answer is both.
Historically, the compressor was used to created a pressure differential between the two tanks by pulling vapor from one and forcing it into the supply tank.
Newer systems use a liquid pump with a relief line between the two tanks to allow the pressure to equalize.
