RJ45 panel mount jack

RJ45 panel mount jack

RJ45 panel mount jack

(OP)
I'm looking for an RJ45 jack with leads that I can mount into a cutout in a metal chassis. Will a jack that fits into a "Keystone" cutout work? What are the dimensions of a standard "Keystone" cutout.
Thanks for the help.

RE: RJ45 panel mount jack

Hmmm. the RJ45's I use are Square.... I’m not sure what jack would be keystone in shape...

Care to elaborate?

I don't think the jack is keystone shaped. I've just seen references that RJ45 jacks will fit a "Standard Keystone opening"

RE: RJ45 panel mount jack

I dunno... most mfg's will specify the opening anyway. If not, I order samples and make my own ;) (we all know how accurate those spec sheets are to mech designers guys...NOT!)

Post the information you've seen. Then, maybe I can get an idea of what you're talking about.

RE: RJ45 panel mount jack

Ah! so that's where you're getting the 'keystone' from... The shape of that jack is shaped as such, and snaps into a premade wall plate.

Have you seen oe used ethercon connectors? Neutrik makes one that will work, is chassis mountable and even color coded if you wish.

Do a search for ethercon connectors. Or, see an example here. http://www.maaselectro.nl/nedparts/Q287.HTM
