Unhandled Errorrs

Unhandled Errorrs

Unhandled Errorrs

(OP)
I have an assembly I have been working on and the assembly file opens up with no problems but when I go to open the individual models of the assembly I get an unhandeled error message and Soliworks stops.  I have heard of the unhandeled errors problem before but why would it let me open the assembly and not the individual models.  I have even been able to modify the individual models in the assembly with no problems.  How can this happen?

RE: Unhandled Errorrs

Just a note:
In my experience flaky hardware (such as memory) can be a significant source of Unhandled errors.  The problem gets even worse with large assemblies.

Try your files on another computer.  See what happens.

I once mixed a couple different speeds of RAM in my machine.  BAM unhandled errors at least 3-4 times a day.  I removed the odd-ball memory module and unhandled errors went to almost nothing.

RE: Unhandled Errorrs

Clean out you Temp file folder. I have found this to be a leading cause of lots of Unhandled errors.

C:\Document and settings\[Login name}\Local settings\Temp

If you can't find your Local settings it is because it is hidden and you have to unhide it. Go to Tools\Folder Options\View Tab\"Show hidden files and folders" Check this option on.

RE: Unhandled Errorrs

Scott, hope you are having a good vacation. Had a quick question why does solidworks not clean the temp file automatically every time you exit the program? Wouldnt that be a good thing for them to do automatically or are there some issues with them programming it to do that.

RE: Unhandled Errorrs

It's not a SW issue, it's a Windows Issue and it's not just SW files you find in there. There are Excel or Word Doc's.... or whatever program you have opened, will leave these temp files in there.

I'm having a good vacation... A bad day of Fishing is better than a good day a work .... I have had a few bad days.
