Structural glass design software ?

Do any of you know of any software packages for the structural design of sloped, non-rectangular glass windows subject to wind loading?

Thanks.

RE: Structural glass design software ?

If you don't find other guide, I suggest you make analyses for your plate in FEM, and find rectangular ones that have the same deflection or maximum stresses. Basically you will get a relationship between the thicknesses that produce the same effect for one or other shape. Then the thickness of the worst "equivalent" rectangular one should be valid for your case.

Ya, that was basically what I was thinking.  In fact, I have already done a model using plate elements in STAAD, but the material properties are not defined well.  Depending where I look, I get widely varying Young's Modulus, from 9000-17000 ksi.

So making a decision on which one is difficult.  Also, I don't know if tempering or heat treating affect the Young's Mod or not.

So I take the STAAD results with some skepticism, based on the unkwown material props.

Thanks

Go to this link http://www.standardsdesign.com/

They have developed software to do that. I use their wind load software and I find it to be accurate and user friendly.

Good luck
