Thermodynamicly speaking, as a pure liquid is heated eventualy, will become vapor, not solid.
But if your liquid, within the heating process, degrades, reacts, cracks, etc., may form solid particles that will remain after all liquid is vaporized.

The purpose is the at te spot where the liquid is heated, a solid particle should devolop and stay till the grid went true the hol basin or cup of that liquid.
