Annular Circular Sector with Uniform Loading
Annular Circular Sector with Uniform Loading
(OP)
I have a problem, a thin annular circular plate which is loaded uniformly over one face (pressure).
There are ribs normal to the face that attach onto a substantial structue and the ID of the ring is fixed to a central boss.
I feel the best way to model this is as an annular circular sector with three edges fixed (ID and two radial edges) and the OD free.
The construction seems quite common and I was wondering if anybody had a formula (or knew where to get it) before I go through the arduous (and brain-mushing) process of trying to derive it.

A book that we used a great deal was:
Design of Weldments by Omer Blodgett
This is a very handy and outstanding book and doesn't cost much ($12.50). 500 hardcover pages of formulas and diagrams. They have a lot of other helful books.

Try Roark's Forumulas for Stress and Strain. The newer editions have the formulas on CD so you wouldn't have to wear out your pencil.
