Hydarulics and Pneumatics
Hydarulics and Pneumatics
(OP)
I am building 200 HP Power pack/2000 Litres & want to use cartridge valve for handling high flows.
Could you advise me what is the best material for making manifold block for cartridge valves.
Are the cartridge valves of different makes like Moog, Vickers and Rexroth are interchangeable.
Thanks

RE: Hydarulics and Pneumatics
The manufacturer of the cartridge valves will give you advice on this.
However here is a material that was developed for pressure manifold type duties;
Sonderbaustahl HYT 60
Yield figures : 305N/mm² sizes upto 250mm
290N/mm² sizes 250 to 400mm
Tensile figures : 550-680N/mm² sizes upto 250mm
550-680N/mm² sizes 250 to 400mm.

You may need to check threaded areas for adequate strength of the material.
Some cartridges are interchangeable, but you must check closely to know for sure.

You should also find the minimum number of thread and yield of the material (both cartridge and block)to prevent the cartridges stripping out of the manifold block.
There are DIN standard interface sections, and standard port sizes Metric/BSP/SAE, which Eaton/Vickers, Moog and Rexroth use. These guys ar normally quite open with this data.
