Muratec MS6 lathe turret restoration

(OP)
Hello
Today we had to work on the turret clamp for this machine and it involved removing the encoder for the tool turret. Its a 8 tool turret and I need to find the parameter/diagnostic that may hold positioning info.
the control is a fanuc 18t.
thanks for any info.

Bob

RE: Muratec MS6 lathe turret restoration

Do not know for the 18T but should be able to pick up the diagnostic (an X input) from the wiring diagram.
If you have the encoder shaft disconnected you should be able to spin the encoder and watch the X diagnostics pages, and see which one is changing.
Usually the info is in BCD, for turret position, and there is a slowdown/ in position bit which triggers the clamp function. It may take a bit of time to work out which is what, but you should be able to work it out logically, then you can set up the turret in position 1, set the encoder to tool 1, and have the inposition bit on all at the same time.

Good luck, it is not impossible.
