What is an Isotensoid?

What is an Isotensoid?

What is an Isotensoid?

(OP)
Hello,

I need to design a cylindrical pressure vessel from carbon fiber. In the literatur everybody recommends to use an isotensoid form at the ends of the cylinder.
Can anybody tell me, what this is and where I can find a mathematical formula for this?

Thank you.

Klaus

RE: What is an Isotensoid?

When I first came across this word, I did a little search and following are the clues found.

Definition: A filamentary structure in which there exists a constant stress in any given filament at all points in its path.

(This talks about constat tensile stress)

An excel spreadsheet for Isotensoid design

For some mathematical insights

You may get some help if you consult any FRP pressure vessel manufacturer.
