Inquiry on part design for Overmold process

Inquiry on part design for Overmold process

Inquiry on part design for Overmold process

(OP)
I'm into packaging design of electronic devices. My new tasks is to combine two parts(Lexan and ABS) in a single process of molding which is called overmolding. I'd like to get design considerations on how will I approach my design. Will I design as individual parts and let the tool maker implement it into the overmold? I welcome any info about overmolding process.

RE: Inquiry on part design for Overmold process

Well did you consider investment casting.
During the moulding the tool maker can make two seperate wax patterns and then he can join the two pattern. and make a joined casting out of that.
I hope this gives new avenue of thought
Thanks,
Ravi.
