smart fasteners-mark uptodate-can this be done automatically?

(OP)
Every time I open an assembly with "smart" fasteners, I get an exclamation on the fasteners.   I have to do a right click an mark upto date manually.  They always seem to be correctly positioned and I dont understand why it always gives me this error which leads me to believe that something is wrong.

RE: smart fasteners-mark uptodate-can this be done automatically?

Try this:

Go to Tools\Options\System Options\External References\ and check mark "Update component names when a documents are replaced." Also check mark "Search file locations for External references"

RE: smart fasteners-mark uptodate-can this be done automatically?

I have the same problem and posted a similar question don't know the thread#.
Someone suggested upgrading to the sp4.0.  (I use 2003 sp3.1)
I have yet to do this so I can't say if it fixes it.

But I can say that I am as frustrated and annoyed at it as you are
