Magnetic Permeablity v. Temperature

Magnetic Permeablity v. Temperature

I am looking for information on magnetic permeability of carbon steel as a function of temperature at high temperatures (100F-1500F).  Any leads?
Thanks,
Ben

RE: Magnetic Permeablity v. Temperature

depends on the heat treatment, the ASTM grade, the amount of cold work, the grain size, carbon content, minor constituents, etc., etc.... and that is just a room temp.

at about 750-800 oC the steel ceases to be magnetic. it can vary a lot.

Thanks Hacksaw.  Can one suggest publicaction with information on magnetic permeability v. Temperature to 1500F for various grades of steel?

I don't believe that there any that would be useful and the measurements are quite dependent on what you are really trying to accomplish.

For example: what freq. range, meas. accurracy, wave shape, field amplitude, small signal mu, degree of saturation condition, specimen thickness, form of the specimen, sample preparation, what initial state do you require to get the data you need, etc....
