Im looking for a method of predicting the reduction in water droplet size with time due to evaporation.
I'm trying to learn more about the mechanics behind desuperheating steam (adding atomised water to steam to control temperature).
Any help in this area is appreciated.

Not sure this helps , but in the case of the water at close to teh saturation temperature, the mass transfer at the interface between the liwuid and vapor governs. The experimanetal mass transfer correlations are probably identical to those measured by Herren Kohler, Hein, and Kassle ( KWU Erlangen) See their papers in Intl J multiphase flow on the subject of dryout and critical heat flux in boiler tubes.

Other factors include the surface tension, which is affected by impurities in the liquid as well as the fluid pressure.
