reinforcement cover for ferrocement roof

(OP)
In the ACI manual, for ferrocement the code recommends that the average net cover of reinforcement is about 2mm. It is also recommended that for thickness greater than 12mm, the net cover shall neither exceed 1/5 the thickness nor 5mm, whichever is smaller in order to insure proper distribution of the mesh throughout the thickness.

   I would like to know:

   1) Does this recommendation apply to ferrocement roofs?
Considering that roofs are exposed to weather.

   2) Any tips for pre-casting, lifting and
       connection/joints for ferrocement curved roofs?

   3) Any suggestions on how to maintain concrete cover for
a curve pre-cast ferrocement roof panels?
