IMPULSE TESTING

IMPULSE TESTING

IMPULSE TESTING

(OP)
hi

I have been having a devil of a time trying to find out how
to calculate my sphere gap, and corrective voltage for impulsing 50k-200kv
I have read IEEE standard 4 , but it does not give me detailed specifics, just the general hubbub. I would really like to get info on the specifics of BIL testing impulse.
I have not worked power sytems before, until this year and I am trying to educate myself and get this company up to speed on the intricate details of design an test in this field.

can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction to find out this info?

thanks

RE: IMPULSE TESTING

A complete guess:  UL?

RE: IMPULSE TESTING

i tried UL

but they,IEEE and ANSI just
talk in general about impulsing,
thay seem to assume that you either
know the specifecs or you don't
need to know the detailing
