X-Ray Shield Material

(OP)
I'm looking for a replacement for lead used as X-Ray shielding in a CT scanner collimator. Any suggestions for an eco-friendly material?

RE: X-Ray Shield Material

I would not deviate from acceptable norms.  I would have a hard time putting my signature on something other than lead.  Lead may not be environment friendly but neither are scattered x-rays to the human body.  If you do go to another source have a physicist perform a study before putting it into use.

RE: X-Ray Shield Material

DO NOT SUBSTITUTE THE MATERIAL.USE LEAD OF THE SAME THICKNESS AS THE ORIGINAL.AS SUGGESTED BY MODERNBIOMEDICAL,PUT THE EQUIPMENT BACK IN USE ONLY AFTER GETTING A PHYSICIST CHECK FOR SAFETY.
