H2S in #6 Oil

H2S in #6 Oil

H2S in #6 Oil

(OP)
Has anyone been experiencing high H2S in the vapour space above their #6 oil product?

What do you do to mitigate?

We are currently treating with H2S scavenger, which is very expensive.

Would like to hear from others...What seems to be the best industry practise?

Thx Brian

RE: H2S in #6 Oil

hi,brochon
h2s produced by complicated chemical reactions of sulfur components of residue, finds its way to vapor space of storage tanks of residue and heavy fuels.loweing temp of storage will help.care shall be taken for preventig ignition of iron sulfide in tanks.also lowering residence time in upstream process equipment will help.
best regards .
