embossment on steel deck

(OP)
Who knows if there are a regulation about the steel deck's embossment.  I found a problem with the mechanical shear bond to provide composite action between the deck and the concrete in laboratory, but supposed that the design of the embossments was a comercial one.

RE: embossment on steel deck

Well, I guess I would start by contacting the Steel Deck Institute and ask them about the embossments.  They govern the design and manufacturing of all structural steel decks, as opposed to standing seem roofing and other similar products.

You might also contact Dr. Max Porter at Iowa State University (don't know the number right off but the area code is 515).  They have done a bit of research on composite metal decks and might be able to assist you in finding the appropriate info/documentation.
