IMPACT STRENGTH OF STEEL PLATE

IMPACT STRENGTH OF STEEL PLATE

IMPACT STRENGTH OF STEEL PLATE

(OP)
We are looking to design a high pressure hydro room.  Can anyone provide us some guidance on the how to determine the required wall thickness of this room.  Some of our hydros are in the 20,000psig range.  We want to build a wall to separate us from the object being hydroed during the pressurized portion of the test.

Thanks,

Bumpjones@yahoo.com

RE: IMPACT STRENGTH OF STEEL PLATE

There are a few unknowns here...I'm assuming that occasionally the thing youre testing explodes and creates an overpressure in the surrounding air.

One would have to know the total pressure being exerted on the object being tested, then distribute that pressure over the wall and ceiling area of the proposed room. Plus a healthy safety factor!
