I am looking for an electrical auto cad program that is somewhat equivalent to Rockwell Automation's " RS wire " program.
I like their program , but it is cost prohibative.

Thanks

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams

WSCAD is not bad - tried it for evaluation (demo version is available at http://www.wscad.com) but ended up using Eplan.  Eplan is also v. expensive although very good...

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams

I am looking for an efficient way to create simple schematics.  Is there a specific AutoCAD add-on you recomend? (I am mechanical so please be specific)

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams

Check out www.SmartDraw.com
Looks great for $199.00! And very simple to use.

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams

I am not sure that SmartDraw is better than an Autocad 2000 add-on.  I do need the files to be in Acad format for distribution.

I downloaded the (AutoCad 2000 JIC Electrical Symbols Menu Add-On)I found at this site; http://www.mrplc.com and it seems quite good.

I am interested in opimions

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams

Visio CAD Technical Edition. It is now a Mircosoft product, considered part of the Office suite. It is about 500 bucks. WOrks great.

I would like to thank all that replied. My company has now supplied me a autocad 2000i.
I have imported the JIC symbols from MRPLC.com and put them into Autocad 2000i, but everytime I bring up the program it will say JIC  failed to load, and now I have to load this program manually everytime.
  Any suggestions?

Thanks again,
Afterhrs

RE: Generating Electrical Diagrams
