Domains - Setting up Trust Relationship

Domains - Setting up Trust Relationship

Domains - Setting up Trust Relationship

(OP)
Here is the situation:

There are two, single-domain, Windows NT LANs:

DOMAIN A in Canada with approx. 40 users and,
DOMAIN B in Florida with 200+ users

There is a 56K frame relay link between these two domains which allows users from Canada to access the AS/400 server in Florida. They use thin-client (P5250 emulator) to connect to the AS/400 and all processing is, logically, done in Florida.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information regarding the current load or traffic volume of the 56K link. All I know is that the link is functioning very good now without major problems.

Now about my dilemma: we need to install the Citrix 32-bit client on one of the user's computers in Canada (literally, just one) to be able to access Citrix server and some accounting application through it. Citrix server is installed on one of the domain controllers in Florida. We can not access each other's resources since there is no trust relationship between domains.

My question is: if we set up a two-way trust relationship between domains A and B how will that change affect the communication link between them? How much more network traffic will be added to the existing 56K link? How will the change affect both networks? Let me repeat: only one user from domain A needs access to resources on one of the domain controllers in domain B. How else can this be done? I don't have a lot of practical experience with multiple domains so I would like to ask board members for help.

Your professional advice and suggestion is very much appreciated!

Peter
