keeping track of drawings (AutoCAD LT 2000)

(OP)
I'm looking for ways to keep track of drawings while using AutoCAD lt 2000 access 97 and excell.

I've created an access database that stores:
File_Name
Path
Last_Saved_Date
Last_Saved_Time
File_Size

(all this information I got by puting a directory command into a file, running a macro or two in excell, and then importing it into access)

I added the following colums to the database:

Source 'what company drew the file
Project 'what project was the drawing related to
Drawing_Name 'usually the similiar to file name
Rev 'Current rev
Rev_Date 'Current rev date

I'm now looking for ways to automatically put this data into the acess database from Autocad say every time I save the file or better yet when I press a button that both saves the file and adds this information into access so I can save a file I'm still working on whithout making it a new rev.

Thanks

PS I would like to put a thumbnail of the drawing in access or have a button to call up a thumbnail into access.

Thanks

Have you considered a document management system?
