assembly ---->to part
assembly ---->to part
(OP)
SW2003 sp3.1
Is there a way to convert an assembly to a single part?
What are the implications.
I'm not sure why I would want to do this, but I'm am curious if it is possible. And does it save you anything?

RE: assembly ---->to part
You can also use a Join feature to merge an assembly into one part. All parametrics are preserved and updating the assembly will update the joined part. The part and assembly files are needed to open the joined part. Little or no performance increase using this method.

RE: assembly ---->to part
In SWX 2001+, you can use the join feature to merge an assembly into one part.
There are some limitations, however. Such as: all parts you want to join must touch or interfere. The result cannot have 'zero thickness geometry.'
