Bonding Silicon Rubber to Polycarb?

Bonding Silicon Rubber to Polycarb?

Bonding Silicon Rubber to Polycarb?

(OP)
Hello,

I'm looking for a thin layer, structural adhesive to bond silicon rubber to polycarbonate.  It should have good shear and peel strength and last 0.25 - 0.5 million cycles of flexure.  and it would be great if it were clear in color.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

danlee

RE: Bonding Silicon Rubber to Polycarb?

You could calendar the rubber to the polycarb - the rubber is laid out in a sheet and then pressed into the polycarb after activation with xylene. This way you avoid the adhesive altogether. Not knowing how the polycarb has been formed (web, sheet, mesh) it is hard to know if my approach will work - but Diversified Rubber in California does this "calendaring" which might work - 562-404-8942 Dave Limly.
