Can someone tell me id Albany, NY qualifies as a Special Wind Region according to ASCE 7-02 map.  If so, what is the design basic wind speed that is used for the City?  Thanks!

RE: design wind speed for Albany New York

I would consult one of the following:

1. Consult one of the local structural engineers. I found out that many fellow engineers, in situations like this, would give professional courtesy to another fellow engineer (I do this once and a while). Pull their names from the internet (yellow page adds).

2. Call the local building officials. They are of tremendous help especially if they are the AHJ who will grant the building permit.

3. A local engineer who is a member of this forum may reply as well.

Good luck.
