assessing condition of screw pile

assessing condition of screw pile

(OP)
There are number of old bridges with piers founded on a pair of CI screw piles taken down deep (may be 15 to 20 metres). They are well over 60 years old. The bridges are due retrofitting or rebuilding. Is there any way of assessing their condition below stream bed in a non-destructive manner.

Has any one carried out similar task. If any member has come across any literature on such piles, can the member please give me the reference for accessing?

Thanks

RE: assessing condition of screw pile

I don't know of any cheap or easy way to check the existing piles in the stream bed.  Maybe you could just add some replacement, drilled and grouted mini-piles (micro-piles) to the retro-fit.
