Saltwater environment fasteners
Saltwater environment fasteners
(OP)
I am working on a project that will have components submerged in a saltwater environment for 6 months to 1 year. I am looking for recommendations on fasteners that can survive this environment and are relatively inexpensive as well as commercially available (don't want to have to machine custom 718 or 725 fasteners). Any help would be appreciated (literature/documentation sources would also be appreciated).
Thanks for your assistance.

AISI 1018 (epoxy coated) assembly is being attached to a subsea tree (probably Inconel 718 - working on confirmation).
environment - approximately 4000' seawater - unknown current conditions.
Our current plans are to go ahead with the custom manufacturing of Inconel 725 fasteners to provide corrosion resistance, strength and minimize gall potential.

We originally hoped to find commercially available fasteners which could be considered disposable. After some searching, we decided that custom fasteners would have to be manufactured and settled on the 725 material.
