We are experiencing some hammering

We are experiencing some hammering

We are experiencing some hammering

(OP)
We are experiencing some hammering in a CIP supply pipe. This occurs approximately 10 minutes into a recirculating caustic wash operation. It is intermittent (approx ever 1.5 min or so). Flow rate starts to drop, pressure starts to drop a little, flow control valve output starts to open to control at setpoint. Note: We are controlling flow based on supply pump at fixed speed, and control valve. Any thoughts?

RE: We are experiencing some hammering

What's the temperature of you CIP system?  How is it heated?

RE: We are experiencing some hammering

(OP)
The temp of the caustic is normally sent out at approx 65C, and rises slightly to maybe 70C during the recirculation. It is heated through an in-line heat exchanger on the CIP skid

RE: We are experiencing some hammering

Enbrel, Do you drain the system before the startup of the CIP process? If you do, you may be experiencing hydraulic shock problems do to fluid flow into the voided spaces.

Hope this helps.
