Protel to ProEngineer?

Protel to ProEngineer?

(OP)

Hi,
Does anybody have any tips or advice for exporting dxf information from Protel.
We are trying to find a way to provide our Mechanical department with PCB geometry for creating solid models in Pro Engineer.

RE: Protel to ProEngineer?

I usually do the following:

1. Create one PCB empty
2. Import Top layer Overlay gerber and top pad (I think because I do not remember now which one has the holes description)
3. Delete what I do not need to avoid having too much information on the DXF
4. Export as top.DXF
5. Repeat the process for Bottom overlay is needed.

Thanks,
I will give it a try...

cheers,

JW

RE: Protel to ProEngineer?

Protel will release enhancements that will make this easy with the soon-to-come service pack 3, or possibly in a later service pack. They have not made an official announcement, but I suggest you call Protel and talk with them.
