S-N Curve for BS970 817M40T

S-N Curve for BS970 817M40T

S-N Curve for BS970 817M40T

(OP)
I am trying to locate any S-N curve data for BS970 817M40T or equivelant, I believe AISI 4340 is nearly identical. The requested data is to enable some preliminary fatigue calculations to be done, prior to aquiring proper S-N data for a worst case material condition.

Below is typical material mechanical test data for five components.

Please note material diameter is 480mm or 19" which puts it outside the normal ruling section

                                     1     2     3     4     5
------------------------------------------------------
Tensile N/mm2                945 937 954 922 904
Yield N/mm2                   757 724 766 724 702
Elongation %                    16   16   17   17   16
Reduction of Area %          64   41   48   47   42
Charpy @ 20 C Joules        44   55   49   51   64
Charpy @ 0 Deg C Joules   n/a  33   33   39   40

Any data or comments would be appreciated

ESDU would be a good source for such data, but you need to be members.

There is a lot of data on 4340 in "Atlas of Fatigue Curves" Edited by H.E.Boyer and available from ASM
