Citric Based Passivating Agent

Citric Based Passivating Agent

(OP)
I am needing to clean and passivate some significant quantities of 316 s/s on an offshore platform in the Timor Sea. The usual HF and HNO3 based pickling pastes are considered too hazardous and environmentally unfriendly to use and wash overboard. I believe there may be a citric based product which may be useful for mild levels of contamination after removal of contaminated areas with a flapper wheel or wire brush. Can anyone please advise the name of a commercially available and environmentally friendly product?

RE: Citric Based Passivating Agent

"CitriSurf is an environmentally friendly citric acid based cleaner and passivation product for use with all grades of stainless steel. CitriSurf replaces hazardous Nitric Acid products, and meets ASTM A-967."
Both gel and immersion versions.
