Selecting and grouping entities by attributes
Selecting and grouping entities by attributes
(OP)
My Ansys 7.1 model consists of two different types of elements.
The first type is assigned a material property 1, the other - mat2. I used the utility menu option: Select-By Attributes-Elements Attributes-1 to display only the elements having material properties 1. Next, I wanted to select a part of displayed elements that, in this particular case, constituted a portion of the model I was interested in. I was searching for the menu driven options like: select-by box/circle/polygon and then hide/blank/erase/remove from the screen all selected elements but there was none ( or I did not find it).
How do you do it in Ansys? I am relatively new to the program. Maybe a command line option exists?
Thank you,

RE: Selecting and grouping entities by attributes
It is simple. You already did a selection so I understood that you know how to make appears the Select window. In this window you have an option Select by NumPick and always this window (the Select window) contains the type of selection (that means a group of radio buttons that contains the options: From Full, Reselect, Also Select and Unselect). So you could choose Unselect and press Apply button. The Picking window appears (usualy in the left of your screen). In this window you have the posibility to pick individually or in group by selection sets as boxes, circles, polygons, lists (min, max, flag) etc.
I hope this help you,
Best regards,
Justin
