Secant Modulus for 304L

Could really use a hand...

...attempting to locate a source for the "secant modulus" for 304L...

Thx in advance!

RE: Secant Modulus for 304L

There are stress-strain curves for 3/4" bar of annealed 304 'low C' at four different temperatures (-423 F, -320 F, -110 F and RT) in the ASMH (CINDAS/USAF CRDA Handbooks Operation, Purdue University). At ~$1000 it's a lot for one curve, and it won't give you exactly blistering accuracy: the scale goes out to 80%, so you'll need an enlargement and a nice sharp 4H pencil for engineering strains below about 5%... Slightly oddly (?), the 'low C' RT curve seems to have about 10 or 15 ksi higher stresses than the regular 304 RT curve.

If all you need is a rough idea rather than a true reference then join the dots:

304 'LOW C'
Strain (in/in)   Stress (ksi)
0.00   62
0.16   88
0.32   92
0.48   97
0.64  102
0.74   91
0.76   80

304
Strain (in/in)   Stress (ksi)
0.0   34
0.2   64
0.4   78
0.6   83
0.8   73

Anyone know how the ASMH people feel about one-off limited copies of a graph or two?? their copyright notice just says "No."
