Chevron Markings

Chevron Markings

Chevron Markings

(OP)
Can anyone refer me to any set standards for size and spacing of Chevron markings on pavement?  The design speed is 40 mph (35 mph posted).  I cannot find any reference to the design dimensions in the MUTCD or ATTSA Manual.

RE: Chevron Markings

NYSDOT uses these numbers:

Line   angle w/   Spacing          Spacing
width  adjacent   perpendicular    parallel to
lane       to hatch line    adjacent lane

8"      15         2'                10'
12"     20         3'                12'
24"     45         6'                11'

No guidance is given on what pattern to use for what speeds.

RE: Chevron Markings

The sign itself is 45 cm x 60 cm.  The width of the black chevron marking is about 17 cm.  This is from the Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada manual.  I can scan the actual (scaled) sign pattern and you can extrapolate dimensions accordingly.  Email me if you want a copy of the pattern.
