Instaling AVR regulator

Instaling AVR regulator

Instaling AVR regulator

I have capacitor-excited single phase AC alternator. Can I upgrade it with AVR electronics instead capacitor. The alternator is made by MeccAlte and I have a spare MeccAlte AVR typ SR 7.1. Can I simply disconet capacitor on exciting coils and reconect AVR?

Thank you all in advance!

RE: Instaling AVR regulator

Suggestion: It may pay off to check with the AVR tech support, since the AVR could become damaged, and there may even be a more suitable AVR available.

Alternator is only 10 kVA single phase, S.R.7.1 AVR is capable of controling alternators up to 300 kVA with single phase sensing. Problem is that exciter output on AVR is marked +/-, at the alternator exciter coil there are only two black wires?
